Al Arabi jump to second spot with fourth victory

Two goals in injury-time help Arabi defeat Al Khor 3-1; Shahania notch first point.

Al Arabi benefitted from two goals in injury-time as they defeated Al Khor 3-1 to move to the second spot on the Qatar Stars League table on Friday.

Al Khor led through a goal from Ahmed Hassan Al Mohanadi in the 37thminute but Arabi fought back to equalise in the 78thminute through Hamdi Harbaoui in the game played at the Al Khor Stadium.

The match seemed destined to end in a draw but in the fifth minute of injury time, Harbaoui converted a penalty to give Arabi the lead. Three minutes later, they struck the third goal, with Pierre Lasogga finding the mark.

Arabi, who have a game on hand, are on 13 points from five matches. Al Khor stayed on four points from six matches.

In the first match of the day at the Al Arabi Stadium, Al Shahania notched up their first point, thanks to a 1-1 draw with Umm Salal.

Ramin Rezaeian converted a penalty to give Shahania the lead in the 26thminute. Lawrence Quaye struck Umm Salal’s equaliser in the 38th.

Shahania stay at the bottom of the table with one point from six matches. Umm Salal are ninth with five points.
