Qatar league champions on top in Group B; Al Arabi notch second successive victory in Group A

Qatar League champions Al Wakrah notched their third win in a row while Emir’s Cup winners Al Arabi continued their good run at the Asian Club Championship in Samcheok, South Korea.
Wakrah are on top of Group B with six points, after earning a hard-fought 23-22 win over Saudi Arabia’s Al Wehda. They had earlier defeated Iran’s Foolad (33-31) and Kuwait’s Al Arabi (34-26) in their opening two games.
Arabi are also on a roll in South Korea, topping Group A with four points. They defeated Kuwaiti side Al Kuwait by a convincing 27-21 margin to earn their second win. Earlier, they had steamrollered Iranian side Zagros 40-24.
The two Qatari teams will boot up for their next games on Monday. While Arabi will face off against the hosts’ SH Hawks, Wakrah will lock horns against Bahrain’s Bar.
The Asian competition, which brings together 11 club teams, is the qualification tournament for the 2020 IHF Super Globe event.
