Recently crowned US Open champion withdraws from the Doha event following a bereavement in the family.
World No 1 and world champion Ali Farag has pulled out of the PSA (Professional Squash Association) Men’s World Squash Championship, starting at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex from Friday.
The 27-year-old Egyptian stated the demise of his nephew Wael Farag on Sunday as the reason for his pullout.
The Qatar Squash Federation offered its condolences to Farag and his family on their bereavement.
Farag was to play unseeded Raphael Kandra of Germany in the first round of the $335,000 prize money tournament.
Farag was in good touch ahead of the Doha tournament, having won the US Open in Philadelphia last month.
