Black Granite races to victory in Barzan Cup
Productive day for Umm Qarn and trainer De Mieulle as jockey Ronan Thomas rides home three winners.

Guillambert steered the seven-year old bay gelding to the finishing post, quarter of a length ahead of another seven-year-old bay horse, The Blue Eye, ridden by Harry Bentley.

Photo: Juhaim BabuThe top two finishers were trained by Mohammed Ghasim Ghazali. The winner brought some respite for Injaz Stud as it was the only race the stud farm won on the day.
Umm Qarn, on the other hand, won three races out of the 10-race card of this season’s eighth meeting. Trainer Alban Elie Marie De Mieulle’s efforts were behind those three winners – Jabir in the Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate, Afreen in the Umm Salal Oaks Trial over 1600M and Rihab in the Umm Salal Oaks Trial over1850M.
Soufiane Saadi rode home two of the winners Afreen and Rihab. Ronan Thomas piloted Jabir. Thomas was in fact the most successful jockey on the day, riding home three winners, including one from Al Shaqab and another from Al Jeryan Stud.
