Coe confident Doha 2019 will be memorable
IAAF President Sebastian Coe says he is excited about a new audience for athletics in the Middle East.

President of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Lord Sebastian Coe was confident that the IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha, starting on Friday, will be a memorable one.
He praised Qatar’s organisational capabilities saying that Doha had a strong history of hosting special editions of major sports events and added that the IAAF was confident that Doha would once again deliver as promised.
Doha is the first Arab country to host the World Championships and the IAAF president was excited over the prospect of the sport reaching a new audience in the Middle East.
He also reserved special praise for the Khalifa International Stadium which has been refurbished for the World Championships. The stadium has been fitted with a cooling technology and a newly-laid athletic track which seems to have made an impression on the IAAF president.
Lord Coe is in Doha well ahead of the World Championships to participate in the IAAF Council meeting and the Congress.
