Nasra wins Qatar’s first gold in GCC Women’s Games
Qatar’s epee fencing team won a silver medal while the skeet shooting team finished third in their event.

Nasra Mohammed won Qatar’s first gold medal at the Sixth GCC Women’s Games in Kuwait on Wednesday.
The ace shooter, who is one of the country’s most promising athletes, took the title in the 25M pistol event. Earlier, she had clinched bronze in 10M pistol competition.
Qatar’s skeet team, featuring Fathima Al Muraikhi, Amal Rafiya and Aisha Al Ansari, won the bronze while in fencing, the country’s team took a silver in epee, continuing their fine show in the event. Haya Fadhy Diab, Wadha Rashid Al Abdullah, Zikrayat Rashid Al Abdullah and Sara Fadhy Diab put up a fierce fight but finished behind Kuwait.
It was Qatar’s second silver in the discipline. The foil team had also achieved the same feat on Tuesday.
The fencers also won a bronze in the sabre team event.
Qatar’s basketball team defeated Oman 61-23 for their third win in a row. Similarly, the handball side also defeated Oman 31-15.
Amna Al Qasimi, who is in charge of the Qatar team in Kuwait, said she was pleased with the strong show.
“I congratulate Nasra for winning the gold in the 25M pistol competition. Our fencers and skeet shooters have also done well. They had worked hard and the results are starting to show,” she told Inside Qatar.
