The QSL’s Cup competition, featuring all the 12 teams in the top division, will have a new identity from the 2019-20 season.

The tournament, which will kick off on September 6, has been renamed Ooredoo Cup, following a two-year sponsorship deal between the QSL and the telecommunications giants.

Moza Khalid Al Muhannadi, Ooredoo’s Director of Sponsorship, CSR and Media Strategy, said the new deal would take their relationship with sports entities in Qatar to a new level.

“Ooredoo has always been appreciative of the activities of Qatar’s different sports bodies and its sportspersons. We’ve always encouraged them to do better. The Ooredoo Cup will be yet another feather in our Corporate Social Responsibility cap,” she told Inside Qatar.

“The Ooredoo Cup will be a huge motivational factor for Qatar-based players, and I look forward to some thrilling matches in the coming days,” she added.

In the Ooredoo Cup, the 12 top division clubs will be divided into two groups. The top four sides from each group will qualify for the knockout quarterfinals. The final will be played on March 30, 2020.
