The Philadelphia 76ers, former champions in the USA’s National Basketball Association (NBA), will associate with Qatar’s Aspetar, one of the world’s top orthopaedic and sports medicine hospitals.

Scott Epsley, 76ers medical director, said the association with Qatar’s well-known hospital would tremendously benefit the club.

“We’re thrilled to work with Aspetar and have them as a resource. We’re fortunate to have a tremendous infrastructure of medical staff members and partners in place. Our relationship with Aspetar gives us access to another world-class organisation with an incredible reputation and track record of success,” he said.

Dr Abdul Aziz Al Kuwari, the acting chief executive officer of Aspetar, said, “We are proud to establish this relationship with one of the most renowned names in basketball. Since its inception, Aspetar has had a vision to become a global leader in sports medicine and exercise and our work with the 76ers brings us a step closer to that. I’m confident this relationship will yield positive benefits for both parties and showcase the excellent services that Aspetar can provide to some of the world’s best professional basketball players.”
