There was no clear winner as Al Sadd and Duhail SC played out a 1-1 draw in their AFC Champions League pre-quarterfinal game, but the players seemed to be happy as they took home some positives.

Duhail’s centre back Bassam Al Rawi, who came in for Medhi Benatia in the 18th minute and put up an impressive show, sounded pleased with his team’s performance.

“I came on quite early, and it was a bit unexpected. But I was ready for the challenge. Although we drew the match against Sadd, it’s still an excellent result for us. We still have another match against them, and we’ll make it count,” he said.

“Despite going behind in the 30th minute, we never lost focus. We played well together and deserved the draw. We’ll try hard to earn a positive result in the return game on August 13,” Al Rawi told Inside Qatar.

Meanwhile, Al Sadd goalkeeper Saad Al Sheeb felt the draw would only add to their confidence in the return leg.

“Earning a draw against a team like Duhail in our away game is sure to add to our confidence. We’ll be fully ready for them at home. Our aim is nothing less than qualifying for the next round,” he said.
