Qatar firepower too much for Oman
Camilo Soto's men win to fight for positions 9-12 in Asian Championships.

Qatar’s superiority came to the fore as they cruised past Oman 3-0 in a playoff match in the Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship in Tehran on Tuesday.
After Qatar failed to make the last eight from Pool ‘A’, they were forced to play the classification matches for places 9th to 16th. Having won against Oman they will now play for positions 9 to 12, with Kazakhstan, Indonesia and Thailand also battling for the four spots.

It was a no contest for Qatar against Oman, the last-placed team in Pool C, winning 25-18, 25-20, 25-16. Of course, Oman had a tough ride in the pool matches, pitted as they were against China, India and Kazakhstan. They started off on an earnest note in the playoffs but soon realised that they were up against a superior team.
It was Abubakr who troubled the Oman defence even as Milos set up his team-mate for smashes from the side and centre.
The stinging smashes pierced through the Oman blocks and soon they were trailing in the set. Qatar built up a huge lead and won the set 25-18.
There was a semblance of a fightback from Oman in the second set. They pushed their opponents hard in an attempt to level set scores. It gave them a temporary edge but was not really enough to prevent Qatar from taking the set. Qatar won it at 25-20.
In the third, the fight seemed to have gone out of Oman. Qatar were in total control and won the set 25-16 to wrap up the match.
