Qatar power to gold in handball, taekwondo

Handball team defeats Bahrain in final league match; Amina dazzles in taekwondo.

After basketball, it was the turn of Qatar’s handball team to be crowned GCC Women’s Games champions, beating Bahrain 32-12 in their final round-robin match.

Earlier, Qatar had overcome Oman 31-15, hosts Kuwait 38-12 and the UAE 24-21.

On Thursday, Qatar had beaten UAE to win the basketball gold.

In taekwondo, Qatar’s Amina Abdulkarim claimed gold in the Under-53kg category. Mariam Ali Ben Ali then added a silver, in the Under-73kg category, to round off a good day for Qatar.

Qatar’s table tennis team surprised Saudi Arabia 3-0. They had opened their campaign with a 3-0 win over Kuwait on Thursday. They will face Bahrain on Saturday.
