Eight-time champions, Al Rayyan have some of the most passionate supporters in Doha. Having reunited with their old coach Diego Aguirre, the Lions are looking to regain their winning mentality. Seven drawn games had hurt the Lions last season. The crucial one was in the penultimate round against Al Sailiya, a result that dashed their hopes of a third-place finish. Eventually, just one point separated them and Sailiya. The goal would be to sustain the momentum till the end this time around. Their last title win had come in 2015-16, marking a dream run after earning promotion from the Second Division the previous year. They need plenty of that inspiration to run the top guns close.
