A seventh-place finish after earning promotion from the Second Division was a commendable showing by Al Shahania. That display should boost their confidence in the new season, but they will have to fill the hole left by Argentinian Luciano Vazquez in their quest for a higher placing. Having retained the services of Iran’s Ramin Rezaeian and Ivorian Kesse Amangoua, they also got a boost when Nigel De Jong arrived from Al Ahli.
