Qatar teams bounce back to force victories
Heartening wins in pool matches keep hosts’ hopes alive in Aspire Beach Volleyball Cup.

Two of Qatar’s teams notched up straight-set wins to end the day on a winning note in the qualifying pool matches of the Aspire Beach Volleyball Cup on the sand courts of the Al Gharafa Sports Club on Wednesday.
Both the wins came against Japanese teams. Qatar’s Ziad Benlouaer and Saifeddine Azizi Al Majid won 21-15, 21-14 against Takashi Tsuchiya and Hitoshi Murakami in a Pool C match while Assam Ahmed Mahmoud and Mahdie Badreddin Sammoud defeated Keisuke Shimizu and Hideki Yoshida 21-17, 21-11 in a Pool D encounter.

- POOL A: Koichi Nishimura/ Daisuke Shibata (Japan) bt Denis Messelmani/Ahmed Ali Nassir (Qatar) 21–13, 21-7; Kensuke Shoji /Masato Kurasaka (Japan) bt Messelmani/ Ali Nassir (Qatar) 21-12, 21-11
- POOL C: Nouh Al Jalbubi/Mazin Al Hashmi (Oman) bt Ziad Benlouaer/Saifeddine Azizi Al Majid (Qatar) 21-10, 21-19; Benlouaer /Al Majid (Qatar) bt Takashi Tsuchiya/Hitoshi Murakami (Japan) 21-15, 21-14
- POOL D: Jedrezej Brozyniak/Piotr Janiak (Poland) bt Assam Ahmed Mahmoud/ Mahdie Badreddin Sammoud (Qatar) 21-19, 21-17; Mahmoud/Sammoud bt Keisuke Shimizu/Hideki Yoshida (Japan) 21-17, 21-11
Both teams had lost their opening matches in their respective pool matches.
Benlouaer and Al Majid went down 10-21, 19-21 against Oman’s Nouh Al Jalbubi and Mazin Al Hashmi.
The Polish pair of Jedrezej Brozyniak and Piotr Janiak beat Mahmoud and Sammoud 21-19, 21-17.
Both pairs however redeemed themselves in their second matches.
In Pool A, Qatar’s team of Denis Messelmani and Ahmed Ali Nassir lost both their matches to Japanese teams. In the first match they lost to Koichi Nishimura and Daisuke Shibata 21-13, 21-7 and in the second they faltered against Kensuke Shoji and Masato Kurasaka 21-12, 21-11.
