Basketball team defeat UAE to remain unbeaten in the competition and ensure gold.

The Qatar national basketball team successfully defended their title at the GCC Women’s Games, currently underway in Kuwait.
The team remained undefeated throughout the competition and in their group game, overpowered the UAE 57-54 to ensure the gold medal.
They had earlier beaten Oman (61-23), Saudi Arabia (63-41) and Bahrain (74-64) in the other matches. The final was a tougher contest than the previous encounters but the Qatari women stayed focused and pulled off an impressive win.
Qatar Olympic Committee President HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani had earlier lauded the women’s teams for their outstanding achievements in Kuwait.
“I congratulate the women’s basketball and handball teams for winning their respective games against Oman and wish them more such achievements in the future,” he had tweeted.
