Qatar’s junior skeet team win bronze

The Qatar women’s junior skeet team won the hosts’ third medal at the Asian Shooting Championships when they clinched bronze at the Lusail Shooting Range on Monday.

The team of Fatima Saeed Al Muraikhi, Ghalia Ali Al Malki and Amna Ali Al Shirawi hit a combined 250 shots to finish third. China won gold with a score of 339 while India claimed silver with 309.

On Sunday, the Qatar men’s skeet shooters had won team gold while last week the men’s trap team had claimed bronze.

North Korea made a huge impact on Monday by not only winning gold, but also setting a world record in the process.

Kim Song Guk, 50M pistol bronze medallist at the 2016 Rio Olympics, set the new mark in 10M air pistol. He shot 246.5 in the final, breaking the World and Asian record of 246.3 set by India’s Saurabh Chaudhary in May. Saurabh shot 244.5 to settle for silver behind the Korean. Iran’s Foroughi Javad was third with a score of 221.8.

China won the team gold in the event while Korea finished second and India third.

South Korea’s Kim Woojong won gold in junior 10M pistol event while China’s Wang Zhehao and Chinese Taipei’s Chin Li Wei Hua finished second and third respectively.

China ensured that they captured the team gold in the discipline.
