Qatar’s women athletes return to grand welcome
The national teams excelled in the indoor and track and field events at the GCC Women’s Games in Kuwait.

Members of the Qatar national athletics team, who won a number of medals at the recently-concluded GCC Women’s Games in Kuwait, were accorded a warm welcome at the Hamad International Airport on Wednesday.
Qatar Paralympic Committee’s Executive Director Ameer Al Mullah, who headed the reception party, said he was proud of the team’s achievements.
“Several women athletes with special needs were a part of the team and they also won several gold medals in Kuwait. It’s a moment of great pride for all of us and we hope they’ll continue the good run in the coming days,” he told Inside Qatar.
The triumphant girls were welcomed with flowers and garlands as the proud parents looked on.
Qatar Women’s Sport Committee Secretary General Shaikha Mubark Al Qahtani congratulated the girls.
“We took a lot of pains to ensure that all our teams were well-prepared for the competition in Kuwait. They attended training camps in Jordan and it helped them raise Qatar’s flag high. I thank them for their efforts,” she said.
Qatar’s teams saw of some tough competition from teas and athletes from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman.
