Qatar Sports For All Federation (QSFA) will organise the third Qatar East-to-West Ultra Run on December 6.

The first Qatar East-to-West Ultra Run, a race created to raise awareness of ‘sports for all’ concept, took place on December 15, 2017, with 25 runners. In 2018, the number of participants increased to 100, indicating that the event was growing in popularity.

The event is open only to amateurs and will be run over a distance of 90 kms in five phases. There are regular stops to allow the participants to break for refreshments. The race begins at dawn from the Corniche and ends at the Dukhan beach.

Chairman of the organising committee of the race, Abdullah Al Dosari, hoped the event would help people from all segments of society to participate in sport and also increase the number of people who exercise regularly.

Al Dosari highlighted QSFA’s objective saying it was focused on promoting a healthy lifestyle through its services and programmes, raising awareness among young people about sport and helping them improve their level of fitness and psychological well-being.

Al Dosari said all finishers will be awarded medals, in an attempt to encourage more participation in the future.
