Samuel Eto’o leaves Qatar SC, expected to move back to Turkey
The Cameroonian striker departs after a one-year stint without making any impact.

Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o has left Qatar Sports Club after just one season at the club, according to team officials.
Eto’o, who joined Qatar SC from Turkish club Konyaspor on a one-year deal, is expected to move back to Turkey.
The Cameroonian, a four-time African footballer of the year and a goal scorer of supreme skills during his hey days, had failed to make much of an impact in Doha. His team narrowly staved off relegation from the Qatar Stars League, winning a play-off with second-division runners-up Muaither to retain their place in the elite division.
Eto’o was absent as Qatar SC continued with their preparations for the forthcoming season under new coach Spaniard Carlos Ferrer and a club official revealed he had not renewed his contract.
The 38-year-old had also been named a global ambassador for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar by the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy.
During his glittering career Eto’o had won three UEFA Champions League crowns, two with Barcelona and one with Inter Milan and two African Cup titles with his national team. He was also a member of the Olympic gold-medal winning team in 2000.
He had also played for Chelsea and Everton in the English Premier League.
Meanwhile, Qatar SC will be travelling to Madrid, Spain, on Saturday to continue with their pre-season training. They will be playing five matches with local sides during the tour.
