Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) President HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani felicitated the country’s women athletes for their impressive show at the recently-concluded GCC Women’s Games in Kuwait.

The sportswomen had made the country proud by winning 34 medals, including nine gold, 14 silver and 11 bronze.

Qatar’s handball and basketball teams had raced to gold medals undefeated. The defending champions in both events proved far superior to their opponents.

The Qatari capital hosted the previous edition of the biennial GCC Women’s Games in 2017.

The competition in Kuwait had brought together hundreds of athletes from all Gulf nations.
