Qatar Sports Club, who have lost all their four matches so far in this season’s Qatar Stars League, have sacked their coach Carlos Alos in an attempt to revive the team’s fortunes.

Former national team captain Wesam Rizik has been named the Spaniard’s successor, the struggling former champions announced on their Twitter feed late on Monday.

Qatar SC are placed 11th in the 12-team competition, just above Al Shahania. They had barely survived relegation last season and Alos was given the reins in July.

The club almost snatched an upset win in the first round this season, leading Duhail Sports Club 1-0 until the 89th minute, before conceding two quick goals to end up losers. It has been downhill from then on for the Kings who had won the league title last in 2002-03.

Rizik’s first match in charge will be QSL’s fifth-round clash against Al Khor at the Al Arabi Stadium on Saturday.
