Superbike winners honoured at glittering event

British rider Jonathan Rea and Kawasaki Racing Team steal the spotlight after impressive comeback in the 2019 season.

The winners and runners-up of the 2019 World Championships were presented their trophies at a glittering ceremony, marking the conclusion of the 2019 Superbike World Championship at the Losail International Circuit on Saturday.

Abdulrahman Al Mannai, President of the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) handed over the trophy to World Supersport champion Randy Krummenacher of Bardahl Evan Bros WorldSSP Team.

Khalid Al Remaihi, General Manager of Losail Circuit Sports Club, presented the trophy to winner of the Supersport 300, Manuel Gonzalez of Kawasaki ParkinGO Team. Turkey’s 23-year-old Superbike rider Toprak Razgatlioglu of Turkish Puccetti Racing Team picked up the award for the Best Independent rider.

Jonathan Rea and his Kawasaki Team were the cynosure having won two awards at the end of the season. While Rea emerged World Champion rider, the Kawasaki Team were the Manufacturers’ champions.

The rider and the team had staged an impressive comeback to win the top prizes after trailing in the initial part of the season.
